Hit sci-fi novel series gets the Telltale treatment

The Expanse: A Telltale Series is a premium adventure game that was developed by Telltale Games. It features a sci-fi narrative that tells the story set in the distant future where space travel is common and the tension between Mars and the asteroid belt colonies runs high.

From the same developer that made Game of Thrones: A Telltale Series Game and Batman: The Telltale Series, comes another interactive adventure. The Expanse: A Telltale Series is based on the hit sci-fi novel series called The Expanse. There are five episodes to complete, all of which contribute to the overall storyline.

What is it all about?

If you’re a fan of the sleeper hit series The Expanse, you’ll know that the show is entering its final season and is heading toward a grand finale to tie everything together. Fans were treated to some interesting news during the 2021 Game Award as developer Telltale Games announced they're in the early stages of working on a Telltale Series based on the popular novel and TV show.

The Expanse: A Telltale Series serves as a prequel and will be set before the events of the TV series. You will be putting on the shoes of fan-favorite Camina Drummer as you lead a scavenging crew on the spaceship Artemis, rummaging the corners of The Belt for any haul worth its weight in value. All of this, while dealing with butting heads and making difficult decisions.

A daunting space adventure

What’s more, Cara Gee herself will be reprising her role and lending her voice as Drummer for the game as it delves deeper into this character’s story. You’ll dive into the outer regions of the Belt aboard the Artemis, exploring shipwrecks and using zero gravity to your advantage. Graphics and dialogue are intense and well-detailed, immersing you fully into the gripping story.

There are five different episodes to comb through in The Expanse: A Telltale Series, wherein as Dummer you must try to accomplish your goal while balancing the rising animosity within the crew and tiptoeing through the sheer cruelty of the open universe. Dialogue choices are noticeably limited, however. Plus, the overall play time is quite short.

Something for fans to look forward to

The announcement for The Expanse: A Telltale Series came out of nowhere yet came at the right time just as the TV series was heading towards its grand finale. Now, it’s providing a captivating glimpse into the life of Camina Drummer and her ragtag crew of shipwreck scavengers. You play as her and make the ultimate decisions that will shape the fate of your team.
